Development Cooperation

Ghent University has many research projects and collaborative Phd projects with the CESAM region, the majority sponsored by VLIR-UOS, but also several through EU funding. For an overview the VLIR-UOS data  can be searched by country or the Flanders research portal  with keywords. PhD research projects are often funded by Ghent University grants or national grants. Topics include amongst others climate change, food safety, reproductive health, land use, vaccines, ecology, and biotechnology.

Strategic Institutional Partnerships

the Strategic Institutional Partnerships focus on the university-wide cooperation with one or more preferential partners around the globe.

Based on long-standing development cooperation projects with Escuela Superior del Litoral in Ecuador, Ghent University started up the SIP ESPOL.

International Thematic Networks

The International Thematic Networks are cooperative networks consisting of Ghent University staff members and international partners concerning a specific topic of excellence in education and research. Currently 8 Networks are active, among which 6 with partners in Latin America.
