Centre for Advanced Studies in Law & Economics

The members of the Center for Advanced Studies in Law & Economics (Casle) are engaged in extensive interdisciplinary research using mathematical models and statistical data linked to legal issues and with insights from various social sciences (esp. Economics, psychology) that are used in the analysis of legal phenomena.

As a founding member of Erasmus Mundus network "European Master in Law and Economics" (www.emle.org), the Centre contributes to the international prestige of the faculty and the university.

In addition to publishing research in international journals the center takes care of the valorisation of theory and empirical search methods for Flemish political and legal reality. Casle is also responsible for the development of law and economics courses of Law and Economics (EW / TEW) at the Ghent University.
